Overview

DubSync helps users dub online videos by reading available captions or subtitles, translating text, and generating speech audio through the provider selected by the user.

Data We Process

• Video page URL and supported-site context, used to run the overlay on supported pages.
• Caption or subtitle text from the current video, used to translate and generate dubbed audio.
• User settings such as language, voice, volume, provider choices, panel position, and beta quota.
• API keys entered by the user for OpenAI, Google Cloud, Azure Speech, or ElevenLabs.
• Optional diagnostic or error information if the user enables error reporting.

API Keys

API keys entered in DubSync are stored locally on the user device or browser profile. They are not sold and are not intentionally shared with DubSync servers. When a user selects a provider, DubSync uses the relevant API key to call that provider directly or through the extension or app runtime.

Third-Party Providers

Depending on user settings, caption or subtitle text may be sent to third-party providers to provide translation or text-to-speech, including OpenAI, Google, Azure Speech, ElevenLabs, and supported fallback service endpoints.

DubSync is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any supported video site or provider brand.

Local Storage

DubSync stores user preferences locally, including selected language, selected voice, provider settings, volume and speed settings, beta quota, and API keys. Browser extension settings may use Chrome storage local or sync depending on the setting type. Android settings are stored in app storage.

Error Reporting

Remote error reporting is disabled by default. If enabled, DubSync may send diagnostic events such as error type, app version, provider type, and limited debugging context. API keys should not be included in error reports.

Data Selling And Advertising

DubSync does not sell personal data. DubSync does not use user captions, API keys, or dubbed content for advertising profiling. If paid advertising is used to promote DubSync, ad platforms may collect campaign analytics independently according to their own policies.

User Control

• Users can disable dubbing at any time.
• Users can remove API keys from settings.
• Users can disable error reporting.
• Users can uninstall the extension or Android app to remove locally stored app data.
